This is like a psych central "ask the therapist" question. And here's what I think they would answer: insist she get individual therapy as well as couples therapy. Of course, couples therapy would be complicated since you have a long-distance relationship, but there's always Skype.
> My girlfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 2 years. We had a period of time where we lived together for 7 months. We get along wonderfully and I am deeply in love with her. HOWEVER, she gets upset sometimes and what she does is dumps me! She'll break the relationship off and become very antagonistic, to the point of being verbally abusive. Then she'll apologize and maybe cry then call herself a piece of sh*t for having treated me so poorly. What is going on here? The only parallel I can think of is the person who abuses their partner then begs for forgiveness after the abuse. She's like a completely different person when she goes on the attack...How do I cope with this?
