Emergence of true Consciousness

Posted by Christ_empowered on July 4, 2010, at 10:55:22

Hey. I didn't know what else to title my post, so sorry if it seems kind of odd.

I've noticed lately that I seem more aware of myself and of life; basically, my consciousness has reached a new level. I have better values, a better and growing sense of identity, and I can handle adversity better. I'm 26, so maybe this is just part of growing up. Could it be something else?

Before, I just kind of existed. Because of my problems, my life was largely defined by my anxiety or depression or psychosis or..whatever. Now, there's an actual *ME* involved in my life, and the problems are just problems that this new *ME* has to deal contend with. They no longer form the basis of my existence. I also get along with others better.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not saying I've achieved Nirvana or anything...I'm just saying I've seemed to have gotten a lot better in a lot of respects in spite of (or because of) trials and tribulations.

Is this just growing older? Is this the resolution of something else, maybe something that would have been considered an "illness" or a "personality disorder" ?

Again, I'm really not trying to toot my own horn here; I'm just trying to figure out what exactly has happened/is happening that's making my outlook better.
