Overwhelmed by DBT?

Posted by Roslynn on June 12, 2010, at 16:56:00

Hi everybody,

I am seeing a therapist I really like, but he is really in the DBT mode and I'm not sure I'm grasping the concepts. I feel like I don't have enough control over my thoughts, etc., to make it through the exercises. He'll tell me to "turn the mind" away from a difficult thought but I don't have that control. Maybe partly because I have lingering OCD?

Does anyone else ever feel overwhelmed by DBT?

Thank you,
Roslynn
