Are you sure that insurance won't cover it? Insurance in general seems to love DBT. It's expensive for the duration of the program, but over time it's supposed to lower costs.
I've always wanted to try DBT. It is similar in some ways to CBT, but in other ways it sounds far more palatable. I use CBT, but when a therapist tries to approach therapy from that angle, undisguised, I tend to respond with, shall we say, negativity. DBT sounds like a kinder and gentler CBT and full of the humor and acceptance that seems sadly lacking in the CBT practitioners I personally have known. Perhaps I've picked a bad lot.
