What led me to these thoughts though Dinah, unlike your experience with your group that merely had different norms, I experienced a place where there is no apparent 'norm'. Well, the only norm I could find was the promotion of individual thought and ingenuity; the desire to solve problems and understand the world through critical thinking, individual thinking, and various means rather than being restricted to the status quo, whether it be the status quo of one group or another or the world at large. It's amazing. When I get off the bus and walk up to the front of the building at school, I sense the most incredible, positive, exciting energy unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Maybe I'm just a geek and get excited about things that are not important to others.
