One good day, one bad day doesn't sound like a bad way to talk about progress.
Are your goals general, or have you made specific weekly goals?
My goal was to walk half an hour in the evening, but one day I felt unwell, then the next day we were all over the place running errands and stuff, then yesterday and today it's been raining.
I probably should adjust my daily goal to account for weather by figuring out equivalent indoor activities. We do have a stationary bike. I've got some yoga tapes somewhere too. Anything to do with stretching might have some additional benefits as well. I probably should admit to myself that any more than five days a week is an unrealistic goal. A week without at least one headache would be unusual. And some days are just too busy.
Is your loneliness in part because of your anxiety in going out? My mother would probably be lonely now my father's gone, but her church doesn't give her a spare minute to think about being lonely. If you're not religious, maybe there are other places that excel at making people feel part of something. I understand if anxiety is an issue, of course.
