I have a magnet on my fridge that says: "There is no heavier burden than a great potential." Linus.
I know this sounds like a self-esteem issue, but through it all I still hear threads of "I like me, but I don't know if it is OK to like me." And I hear, "I like you but I don't know how safe it is to like you. And I don't know what it will take for you to stop liking me and leave." It is safety that is missing and attachment that is scary. But doesn't it all seem to come back to that? If your mother can't be there for you, what does that say about your worth? I think we all ask ourselves this over and over again.
You are doing good work, annierose. Keep it up.
