Once a week therapy and twice a week therapy were, for me, two such different enterprises that they ought to have had different names.
At one time a week, therapy was often a review of the events of the week, or the recitation of facts. Maybe with some exercises or homework to do. So much time was spent re-establishing our relationship.
Twice a week therapy was completely different. One session began where the other left off. I could go way deeper. And there was less wasted time at the beginning of each session.
Yes, I think the dependency does get stronger, at least for a while. But once you reach a certain point in trust, it gets much less. Or maybe you just feel it less. I'm not sure.
On the other hand, if she only sees clients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, that's two days in a row. It still leaves a long time between sessions so that might diminish the value of having continuity. And I can't deny that finances are a concern.
There are pros and cons, I think.
But it is an entirely different experience.
