Those are wonderful memories to have, You should be so proud to have grown from being a patient so much in need of help to a resident whom Dr. Karl respected, liked and supported. I don't know too much about my analyst, and may never, as he has quite firm boundaries, but I get the feeling that he feels about Menningers' just the way you do- very, very positively. It's so sad to have lost a place that was so unique and valuable. I don't think there's anywhere comparable to go now for those who need really intensive, long-term care. I don't think Riggs or McLean are in the same league. Probably financial and insurance realities would make Menningers' impossible today. It is great to have had those wonderful learning experiences there, though. Just wondering- has anyone written about the old Menningers? I don't mean biographies, but about the hospital itself.
