ok, maybe I'm weird-ing out here- but since I'm (still!) in-between Ts and it looks like it's going to be a LONG wait, I'm trying to do everything I can to try to get myself stable.
Had a really bad day today- don't even know why, really. Everything seemed to be a trigger. I'm turning more and more to 'alternative' type therapies, (which don't seem to be covered in the Alternatives forum... I'm confused by that one). I spent this entire day feeling bad, worthless, and miserable. No real reason- it just comes out of nowhere, and I was feeling shattered, unable to do anything for most of the day.
I'm reaching out more to new-age remedies, for lack of anything else... crystals, Bach flower remedies, shamanistic rituals: anything and everything that gets me through the day, really.
Probably because there have been several threads recently about our inner child, it gave me an idea for a kinda 'art therapy' project... I've started on a collage of images that I think relate to my inner kid. I'm going to hang it up somewhere where I can see it, and talk to her- decorate it with things I think she would like: sea shells and stuff like that.
While I was working on it tonight, I was listening to a CD, and a song came on that just seemed SO relevant... "Frozen" by Madonna. So many of the words were saying exactly how I felt;
"You waste your time with hate and regret"...
"Now there's no point in placing the blame-
And you should know I suffer the same,""Love is a bird she needs to fly-
let all the hurt inside of you die..." etc.I played it about 2 or 3 times, listening to the words over and over. Inner kid says she really likes it, (music never figured much when I was growing up- memories of little me trying to dance to advertising jingles on the radio for lack of anything better) and so I thought I'd try to play it when she is feeling anxiety triggers.
So was just curious- is there any music that helps any of you when things are bad? I find music sometimes works better than anything... I do wonder why. Does anyone's therapist recommend this? (there is art therapy- why not music therapy??) I'll shut up now.
