Changing writing style when changing posting ID?

Posted by Honore on July 26, 2007, at 11:33:05

Has anyone here tried to change their writing style when they changed posting identities, to preserve their anonymity?

Did you feel it worked, or was it too hard to continue long-term?

Or did you feel that your style wasn't identifying enough to need to be changed?

Do you think about your writing style as something that is distinctive?

Any other thoughts on how writing style can preserve or undermine either identity or desire for privacy?

Any thoughts on this subject will contribute to a paragraph on the subject of privacy and anonymity in online message boards, for a workshop at next year's APA. Of course, I would respect anyone's desire for anonymity, and wouldn't use any quotes or contributions without permission.

Thanks a lot,

Honore
