That's a good point. Immediately after an unsolicited hug (and the first one ever) is probably not a good time to decide.
In fact an unsolicited (though he of course asked my permission) hug was probably the catalyst for my recent reattachment to my therapist, solidified by the fact that he got through flooding to see me.
It's one of the reasons I asked about seductiveness. Of course, I'm not saying either of our therapists intended to be seductive. But in my case at least, it kind of pulled me back in as I was edging away.
As you know, I am firmly in favor of forever therapy, but even at those times lately where I could see a day where I wouldn't need him on a regular basis, I can't imagine saying goodbye for good.
