It's evident every day. And the person they quoted was right. There's a tangible layer of depression hanging around.
And the daily stories in the paper... It's a rare day I don't cry.
They were posting the number of doctors that had left. The numbers in all fields were staggering, but mental health had the greatest loss. And at a time when it is more needed than ever.
Today we passed by a new group of homes that I hadn't passed by before. And I recognized so many of them, and could barely believe they were the same homes. And could not believe how few homes were under repair, how few trailers were out there. The numbers are still up on the walls. Whether or not they found anyone alive or dead, or pets. Thankfully it is almost always 0 for people found. But there are plenty of cats and dogs on those notices. Hopefully found alive and hopefully restored to their owners.
Nearly every day there's something.
I'm surprised the numbers aren't higher to tell the truth. Maybe it's because so many people are spread out all over the country, unable to come home.
