MandaFran,
Welcome to Psycho-BabbleYou have come to the right place. I've only been here a few weeks, but I have changed a lot of my attitudes about what it means to have mental illness, what it means to struggle with things that make us feel different. I have gotten a lot of support, and learned a lot about myself.
I'm glad you have a therapist. P-Babble gives you an opportunity to read about how other people are struggling as they go through therapy. Some people practice talking about difficult disclosures on babble before they feel comfortable bringing it up with their therapist in session.
It's also gratifying to hear about people's successes, and we love hearing about each other's successes and victories.
It sounds like you have a lot going on right now. I don't have any personal experience with addiction. The "substance abuse" board is a good place to talk about different addictions.
Feel free to talk about anything that you need to talk about. There are few things to watch out for, like curse words, offending other people, etc. These guidelines are covered in the FAQ link at the top or bottom of the page. Also, it's respectful to include the word "trigger" if you write about something that other people might be sensitive to. For instance, I am sensitive to violence, so when people write about violence, I need to warned before I start to read. That allows me avoid certain subjects.
I wish you the best MandaFran, and I look forward to hearing more from you as you start to find your direction. You'll find your way -- you found your way here, didn't you?
best wishes,
-llrrrpp
