I wish I could find a T that really cares.

Posted by Bonnie_CA on May 22, 2006, at 23:22:10

I say that because I've talked to a few. Everytime I've ever talked to a T, I feel like I'm just babbling and they're just nodding their heads, occasionally writing something... I wonder if they're really writing something or if they're just bored and start doodling. I never get feedback. I tried to going to a therapist last time in college, and I stopped going after he let me talk for an hour about buying clothes. I need a therapist that I feel that is really listening to me, by giving me feedback, giving me something to think about, giving me some direction in sorting stuff out. I always seem to get these people that just sit there and I'm not even sure they are listening. What are they listening for? What should I say that would actually help me? I talked about clothes to that guy one day because I just didn't feel like he listened at all, and he didn't have anything to say about it, he didn't try to redirect me, and I was like "This is a waste of time". I feel like I could use therapy, but I'm so disillusioned with it, I don't even know where to start. Feels like they're all the same, they sit there, nod their heads, and at the end of the hour, they schedule another appointment. *sigh* Where are the really caring therapists? How can I find one?
