In reply to How do you contact your T between sessions?, posted by chinchilla1 on April 12, 2006, at 1:05:45
Are you mainly talking about after hours? During the day I can leave my T a voice mail and she will call me back within a few hours. She is fine with me calling any time. She works in a practice and each therapist takes a turn being on-call. The on-call cell phone number is available on the main phone line and also each therapist's voice mail. I dont think any of the therapist's there give out home numbers since someone is always on-call. My T doesnt do email with clients which is good for me because I'd write more than I'd talk. The only time my T doesnt check voicemails and return calls is when she's on vacation.
So does your T have voice mail so you can leave a message or ask for a call back? I like knowing I can call my T whenever and that is usually enough for me not to call her. I wouldnt like it if she were hard to reach by phone.
His wife is his receptionist? I think that would bother me. Have you asked him about getting in touch with him? I think sometimes therapists arent really good about sharing that upfront. Maybe tell him its a concern of yours and talk about it.
