I can't actually do the paper writing, but I can and do converse in other ways.

No, it doesn't sound like nonsense. I'm far enough along the dissociative spectrum that it sounds perfectly normal to me.Part of me feels disconnected, apathetic, and very sad, while part of me feels energized at the prospect of going back to school and becoming a better employee. :(
