Yeah, that's how I see it too.
He wrote a fifteen chapter book in second grade last year. The theme was aliens capturing his friends over and over again, and being rescued (the rescuers included my son, naturally).
I always figure that a psychologist could make something of it if they wanted to. But his favorite movies are Star Wars and Spy Kids and his favorite books are Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants, and a Series of Unfortunate Events, and Harry Potter. He's definitely not going to focus on the less exciting things in life.
