I received this message from a list serve administered by Ken Pope and thought folks might be interested.
The new issue of *Canadian Medical Association Journal* that will be
released tomorrow (June 7, vol. 172, #12) includes a review article:
"Borderline personality disorder" by Joel Paris. Here's the abstract: "Borderline Personality Disorder is a chronic
psychiatric disorder characterized by marked impulsivity, instability
of
mood and interpersonal relationships, and suicidal behaviour that can
complicate medical care. Identifying this diagnosis is important for
treatment planning. Although the cause of borderline personality
disorder
is uncertain, most patients improve with time. There is an evidence
base
for treatment using both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. The
clinical
challenge centres on managing chronic suicidality."The author note states that reprint requests may be sent to: Dr. Joel
Paris, Department of Psychiatry, McGill University, 1033 Pine Ave. W,
