According to Cardiff University psychologist Cliff Arnalls, Monday, January 24, will be the most depressing day of the year.
He has used a complex mathematical formula to work out that Jan. 24 is the day when the public mood is likely to hit rock bottom.
That's when all the things that make winter gloomy come together in a perfect storm of sleet, slush and credit card debt.
The weather is rotten. The days are short. Any bounce you got from the Christmas holidays has faded away, and now the credit card payments loom. Spring is still ages away. By the 24th most people have failed in their New Year's resolutions. And this year the day falls on a Monday. How cruddy is that?
Overall January is the most depressing month of the year, says Arnalls, who interviewed 1,000 people in stress management classes for his research.
