Fifty minutes is the standard here. I hear some therapists try to squeeze in more clients by cutting down session time. I think that would be a bad reason.
Others cut down session time to have more time to prepare for sessions, write notes, return calls, etc. That's a decent enough reason, if it pays off in better sessions.
My therapist isn't busy enough where we have to do that. We have our fifty minutes, and often that doesn't even include the appointment scheduling.
