I have been dx with the condition. For me, it is not the Sybil like drama shown on the movie. I have met another and she was the same.
Are you questioning if the disorder is valid? I can tell you that most of us live in secret. We do not want people to know the inner turmoil. I would NEVER go on a program to try to prove the disorder like some. That would feel like a circus freak, but that's how I feel inside already. I don't need someone to try to see it. If they look for it, I will try to hide it as much as I can.
I hardly tell a soul about my disorder. If I did, most folk would probably want to look for it. I say, "No way!!" That would feel like abuse all over again. I feel this disorder has been misunderstood and misportrayed in Hollywood. Weird and bizarre things sell. So, the more bizarre they portray MPD/DID; the better the sale.
DID is a normal response to very very horrible situations. There's nothing bizarre about that to me.
