I suppose there are those who find their power in religion. My idea of spirituality is somewhat nebulous (so OK, I don't really know what I believe in!), but my T helped me with a guided meditation.
She had me imagine that there were roots coming out of the bottoms of my feet, grounding me and rooting me to the earth. The roots continue deeper and deeper toward the center of the earth. The center is pulsating with a great white light, pure energy. Imagine that your roots finally get close to that center, connect with it, and the pure energy travels up through the roots back towards your body. It gets to your feet and slowly builds up within your body, filling it like a great pitcher. The energy gets to the top of your head and you are totally connected to that energy - energy that does not come from you, but in fact, from the very earth on which we live. We draw upon that energy to fill our hearts and minds with love, peace, understanding, determination. The energy spills out of the top of your head - there is so much to go around! - and returns to the ground, to reunite with the center of the earth.
I understand that I myself do not have this power. Neither does anyone else. No matter how many medications or how many doctors treat me, I won't be able to recover until I draw upon power to heal myself. The power has to come from elsewhere, and you draw upon it. it's good, it's healing, and it creates more energy the more you use it.
My T is helping me learn to tap into this energy to give me the strength as I don't believe I have any of my own.
Jeez, i can't fathom where my words came from. They really do help me imagine that there is a fountain of power that we can all tap into as needed, that we give back to the earth in a beautiful synergy.
