EMDR- wow

Posted by tyagua on May 20, 2004, at 15:57:52

I just had my first session of EMDR and I still don't know how to describe it. I feel exhausted and different. I don't feel bad for sure. I am convinced that I was the perfect candidate for this and it is doing exactly what it is supposed to, but how come I can't explain it in real words? Nothing I've read even begins to describe how intense and profound it was for me.
I saw myself move through an intense emotional reaction to a traumatizing event. Yet I didn't have to talk about it so there was no worry about me judging myself or feeling judged. My emotions just slowly changed and evolved while I watched the lights. the Dr. just asked how my body felt. At one point I was moved to sob intensely so that I thought I would never stop.
When I was done I just wanted to sit and hug her teddy bear. Has anyone had an experience like this? -Tyagua
