Alexithymia

Posted by noa on March 23, 2004, at 17:23:28

I just learned a new word, and it's an interesting one!

Alexithymia: Difficulty in describing or recognizing one's emotions

http://www.alexithymia.info/faq.html

Apparently this occurs a lot in eating disorders, SI, and psychosomatic pain, etc.

Another article:

And, a person can be really good at understanding OTHER people's emotions, just not their own.

I know I have this problem sometimes--sometimes I know I'm feeling something but don't have the words to describe it.
