Speaker, I am so sorry. Flashbacks are really, really scary.

It is interesting that you brought up the dentist. A month or so ago I had a root canal scheduled and was working on some really hard stuff in therapy. I also had to deal with a child abuse situation that came up here at work (parents, not my teachers) on the same day as the dental appointment. My Therapist told me he recommended cancelling the appointment and if I could, waiting awhile as most people feel very very vulnerable in the dentist's chair. I went anyway for lots of complicated reasons and ended up floating away for most of the procedure.

I'm surprised your Therapist didn't offer more support, and help you process the flashback. So no, you are NOT being overly sensitive. Do the positive things with this Therapist out weight the negatives? Otherwise I think 3 months might be long enough to decide you need to look elsewhere for support, if you have that option.

I think you might also consider letting him know that you didn't feel support. Be prepared for the question of "what would you have liked me to do?" because they always seem to ask that.

Take good care. The next few days are bound to be hard. I'd like to know how you are doing.
