Well I finally talked to my pdoc on the phone (not via voicemail) to change the time of my nex appt. On the phone he sounded completely friendly and fine. He didn't reference my previous whiney phone call or say, "let's talk about your whineyness" or "I played your needy pouty message to the other shrinks and we all had a good laugh." (I know that wouldn't really happen, just exagerating my own feelings of insecurity.)
This time, I was not needy on the phone. Just polite and businesslike, probably because I happen to be wearing a business suit at work.
So it all worked out ok. Thanks for the responses.
