Even though its called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, my son's diagnonis is ADHD withouth hyperactivity. It is more common in girls than boys and could have been your issue as a child which would still make it an issue for you especially if you haven't learned any coping techniques.
As you may know, most of the meds for ADHD are stiumlants (Ritalin, Adderall, etc.). Its a paradox, but stimulants work by allowing focus. Background receeds instead of being on the same level as the area on which you are trying to focus, ie. "I parked in row 7G" instead of just seeing a huge parking lot and being overwhlemed with images. Does this make sense?
Lots of people have ADD, to a more or less degree, and there is help out there. Hope you can get the help you seek and that it will make your life more manageable. Good luck!
