In reply to Job Interview Tomorrow- emotional mess, posted by Poet on January 5, 2004, at 18:02:55
Poet,
A certain amount of nervousness shows how much you want the job and that should be flattering to the potential company. Tell them: "I want this so bad, I'm really nervous!" They will appreciate your honesty.
Deep breathing creates the same brain waves as REM sleep so you will feel rested and relaxed even if you don't sleep well. Do this tonight and tomorrow morning.
Pick out something to wear that you feel good in, wear your favorite "professional" shoes and take along a private "good luck charm." Mine is a Snoralax card from Pokemon my son gave me years ago. LOL. If you look good, you will feel good and it is easier to fake competence when you are stressed.
It isn't the end of the world if you don't get the job. Getting the interview in this day and age is HUGE...and impressive. I get over 200 resumes for single jobs when we have openings and we are a little tiny company. Congratulate yourself on this fact.
Knock 'em dead!
