Many times dreams are thought to be part of ourselves that are trying to communicate. I've heard it said that some aspect is represented by all of the characters in the dreams -- a one man show. If you are in therapy, stalking dreams, chasing dreams and falling dreams are thought to represent being out of control or getting close to something your subconscious has been keeping repressed. It is what you feel like you need to know or change -- but aren't sure you want to.
I like Irving Yalom for dreams. He has some great stories and they usually include the dream work of his clients. Freud is too literal for me.
How do the dreams end? Are you ever caught? Where are you running?
Real life sometimes makes us remember dreams: I have a reoccurring one about being stalked at my office by a motorcycle rider dressed all in black, with a black helmet, black shield, etc. In all the dreams, I wake up just as I'm about to find out who it is. (My Therapist thinks the rider is him.) Last week I got a call on my cell phone inquiring about the motorcycle I had for sale -- they had called the wrong number! Then,I had a therapy appointment and after I left the building and was waiting to cross the street, a black motorcycle with rider all in black went in front of me. It was creepy!! :)
