I suppose I was not very good at shopping for therapists so I didn't ask him what type of therapy he practised. I certainly didn't know what I needed. I chose him because I intuited that he was trustworthy. It turns out that he is a fan of Freud and believes that "the action" is in the subconcious. He is not a purest...I don't lye on a couch and he is not a blank and passive therapsit. Occasionally he gives advice/ suggestions.

So, in answer to your poll, I am on the pschoanalysis/pschodynamic path. On the other hand, I am a died in the wool thinker and have toyed with the idea of moving to a CB therapsit, espcially when I feel as if I have failed in therapy.

This kind of discussion, what works for others, is exactly what I need, so I am glad that CBT and pscyodynamic are on the same board.

Thanks for the Thread!
