Hi Dinah,
The therapist I saw last summer and fall's father died during that time. I remember feeling just as you do.
I often wonder if his father's death was the reason I wasn't making much progress. It might have had nothing to do with it, but I often felt that his mind was not there with me during our sessions after that. It would be only natural for him to be thinking of him.I just told him that I was very sorry to hear about his father and even suggested postponing my next session but he seemed insistent on me keeping my schedule.
