The really important thing is that it helped before, and sounds like you are in a difficult situation now?
I know I'm being reluctant to go back to therapy myself at the moment, but I would go if I was under that much pressure. I have seen 3 different therapists (one emigrated, so that wasnt really my decision!) It can be hard work in therapy, but I really dont think its something that has to be once-only. There's no failure involved in wanting a top up,either.
I dont know if sex of therapist matters, tho someone else might have wise words on that one. I suspect there are *more* female ones, so it might be easier to find!
Lots of luck with staying your own person, whatever you decide. I do appreciate how hard that can be when you're back home. Its easy to say that its important to be independant and leave your mother to cope more on her own- but not so easy in practice!
