> Because of the short shrift mental health has recieved through the years, millions of sufferers have died. I know its not PC, but through wastefull programs like manned space flight not enough resources are available for research on mental disorders. Maybe our government will finally wake up and cut back on manned space programs and put attention on more valuable areas.
THe past 20 years, most attention has been focused on AIDS, because of hollywood and the fashion industry having such high profiles. Not even breast cancer and heart disease gets even the fraction of this attention. Eveyone knows the ribbons that celebrities wear to show their support for AIDS research......does anyone ever remember a significant number of hollywood types raising awareness for any other health issue? Out of touch. IMHO, mental health is severely overlooked. Unfortunately, kids of celebrities will have to start committing suicde in great numbers for anyone to give a damn.
