Gad or bi-polar?

Posted by grrovymotion on October 23, 2002, at 17:19:52

Ive been on remeron 14 months. I just had to reduce remeron 30mg to 15mg for sleep enhancement, remeron is suppoed to be extremely sedative at a low-dose.
Over the summer I picked up energy, a little more optimistic, before that it was a more tired state; Then in october, I had alot of panick attacks, some short periods of depression. Then I had three days where I felt heavy and a little lightheaded, a little foggy; then two days later agitation set in, I'd wake up alert in night, I became stimulated like the bad trials of sssri's in the past. Sleep disturbance, racing dreams, a few times before hitting sleep consciousness I heard a few short seconds of people chatter, woke up and felt find- none of it was personally directed to me, it would pass thru my head; then sensitivity to noise, felt wired, more irritable, stimulated. So I speeded to the emergency room doctor after a horrible panic attack, was prescribed neurotinin, which is helping, but I cant miss a dose. I know I have congnitive component of Gad, some obssesive-compulsive as well (obessissnal thinking and in past intrusive thoughts). Right now, Sometimes its a mixed state, sometimes its not, no mania though, more like stimulation and just pure agitation (which neurotinin has relieved, stopping me so far from going pyschotic. Problems shutting off my thoughts sometimes if I walk; but not on the internet, or computer. In the past, I remember (several years ago) when I was on paxil, I had agitation and 45 min of extreme depression, (I was on paxil just three days) and put on prozac: restless legs, had to walk or exercise, panic attacks, and tremors.
Currently, I think the 15 mg of remeron alone should put me out. Now on 300mg-400mg of neurotinin, and might increase it. Its sad because Remeron was alright for almost a year, slowly took away my chronic fatigue (which I now miss)
In the past (before remeron, which helped) : I had alot symptoms of atypical depression, where I didnt always feel the full affect of depresion but was damged from it. I was often pessimistic type, inhibited.
Is this remeron doing it to me? Is this bi-polar? My mother is. Is this schizo?
I hope its just extreme Gad, (which I know I have).
