jyl,
I know part of what you mean, although I don't have the SI or suicidal thoughts. But I do get very down sometimes and it makes me feel guilty, even, for not enjoying all the great things in my life. You aren't alone, and there are many people who are in your situation. That probably doesn't alleviate your misery at all, but we are here to support you and "listen" and encourage you. It always helps me clear my head (and feel a little better) to put my thoughts into written (or typed) words.
Maybe the medications you have tried aren't the right ones for you. Keep looking for the right meds- what if the very next thing you try is the magic bullet, and you are able to enjoy yourself again in just a couple of weeks?!
And are you in therapy? This is definitely something you should discuss in sessions, IMO. Maybe your therapist could help you find out what you want from life that you aren't getting.
When I was depressed I felt like I was wasting my life, that I was supposed to be building SOMEthing, (but what??) but if I could muster the energy to help someone else or engage in a constructive hobby (for me it is quilting) things got a little better. Pets are also very therapeutic. I can not talk to my dog without smiling. :^D
I hope you feel good soon...
