Wellbutrin and ringing in the ears

Posted by Lorelai on August 8, 2002, at 19:22:21

I tried a search on this and didn't find anything. I'm bipolar and was on depakote for a while, but couldn't put up with the weight gain and stopped taking it. I relocated to the city I lived in some time ago and my old pdoc told me I had no business being off meds, but I refused to take depakote and we're both leery of lithium and I was in a deep depression, etc., etc., so here I am on Wellbutrin for the time being. I like the weight loss (7 lbs in 2 weeks so far), but suddenly I'm starting to get this high pitched ringing in my ears. It doesn't sound this way all the time. Seems to happen in the early evening. But it's so annoying and LOUD it drives me crazy. The first time it happened I went running around the house, shutting off things I thought it might be. The computer, the TV, the ceiling fan. Then realized it was coming from inside my own head! Has anyone experienced this? And did it eventually go away??? Thanks.
