< The context of all this is that ranching is a pathological culture, she said. Whatever is wild and free needs to be subordinated. Its beyond competing for grass. The idea that wild horses are out there at all f*cks with the ranchers head. He just doesnt get it, that there are wild things out there with a right to exist. Whats happened to horses is about the corruption of our government by the livestock industry.
true dat.
New Zealand is a land of dairy farmers.
More to the point, Waikato (where I am from) is very much a land of dairy farmers.
New Zealand - China relations were fostered because all the dairy farmers in New Zealand aspired to feed infant milk powder to all of the babies in China.
Sigh.
And theeeeeeeeeeeeeen... They got greedy and started contaminating the milk powder that made it look like it has a higher protein content. And the contaminant (melamine or something) turned out to be... Toxic. Oops.

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery recently (over the last year) New Zealand has started to advertise animal / dairy free. Advertise vegetarian or even animal-free (vegan).
That represents a significant development from the whole exploitation of animals mentality / culture that we are very very very very very much based on.

I hear the story where they say about the American Dream and they say about the Nevada reality.
New Zealand *doesn't have a dream*.
It only has the Nevada reality.
There is no ideology, here.
