Some might not think this a political question, but politics is about the exercise of power and making people either powerful or powerless. Often, that boils down to a name. Is there anyone out there besides me that has had enough of being called "mentally ill" or having a "mental disability"?
What affects us may exhibit itself through what people call our thoughts, but it is rooted in our brains, not some epiphenomenon called a "mind". I have to wonder that if we start demanding our issues be addresses as neurological disabilities or disorders, whether we can gain more traction in having our needs addressed as biologically-based needs and not-so-invisible disabilities.
There's still too much stigma, and tip-toeing between out-dated, rude, and anything with "psych-" in front of it is just keeping us disempowered.
