Dreams of My Father

Posted by Sigismund on December 15, 2008, at 0:55:50

I'm surprised President Bush was abroad.
Good to see him out and about.

Anyway, I was flipping through
"Dreams of My Father"
which I won't be able to get out of the library because our library sucks and everyone will want it, but I went to the part, toward the end, where Obama's grandmother in Kenya is speaking, that bit that is quoted in some reviews.

Apart from a huge culture difference, beautifully portrayed in her language, what you have is the history of British colonialism in that part of Africa.

Which seems to me hugely significant.
