I think there is a reason that the media will not show images like this on air. I'm not sure it is because they are supporting one side or the other, I think it is out of respect for the families of those that have died.
War impacts life on so many levels, globally, nationally, regionally, and ultimately on a very very personal scale.
It is in this very personal scale that many experience this war. These people fighting (and dying) are my neighbors and friends. I can not imagine the magnitude of heartbreak at seeing an image of your dead husband/son/daughter/father on the national news.
I'm a big believer in the "tend to your own garden" philosophy of life. My garden is with the families and the soldiers.
Now, with the stop loss policy, I think it is no longer accurate at all to describe our armies as all volunteer.
