Darn! My cat stepped on my mouse and deleted the message that I was typing!
That is a tragic story and I think is a good example concerning beliefs and choices.
I tell the students that we come into a world where our beliefs are usually provided for us by family. Then teachers and clergy offer up more.
We get to a certain age and start forumlating our own beliefs...then comes choices.
We are in control of our choices and sometimes they turn out to be wrong for us and those around us.
Obviously, I believe that choosing to live by the gun is a tragic mistake.
The NRA can rant and rave all they want about "defending" ourselves..she surely wasn't able to and look at the firepower that was available to her.
I grew up with guns and we were taught that we owned them for one reason and that was to obtain food. I was born during the Depression and we ate alot of venison and other game. I never saw one of our guns leave our property through our front door. The hunter left through the woods behind our house and when he returned with the gun, it was locked up until he needed it again.
