Warning: this is an editorial, but I have tried to leave out the name-calling and rhetoric. (Even though some of it might be deserving...but I digress..) IMHO....

Yes...it's like we are living in similar times as the Dark Ages..the Holy Crusades.

I also forgot to mention that Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is basically ready to do *anything* to please Bush. My god..the whole situation..Iraq and Afghanistan..as a progressive thinking person, I am just totally BURNT OUT by the amount of death, aggression..these are the "killing fields". Now, who will replace Bush, Blair, and hopefully Harper, are inheriting one big, almost holocaustic war (and accompanying various civil wars) of dire, immense proportions. Supposedly Blair got involved in Iraq because he was 'promised' that the U.S. would help to bring peace to the Israeli /Palestinian war.I personally think that was a very naive move on Blair's part.
So..with the conservatives (and yes, Blair is clearly one) being replaced in many elections, in particular the U.S. one, somebody is going to inherit one big, nihilistic mess. I am just thinking back to when Colin Powell said he wasn't going to take part in what some say are Bush's make-believe reasons for invading Iraq. I know that there is a small number of Democrats who have tried to get Powell to consider running as a Dem for Prez.

I have dreams of time passed,(better times..IMHO) when the world worked very hard, in an international effort, to bring hope, peace, and prosperity (to all citizens.) I think of the Marshall Plan...the richness of the good and humane that came out of that. I think of former Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson and his resolve to use 'Peace Keepers' to solve what could have been nasty problems. Pearson also was a revolutionary when he suggested all developed nations to contribute 0.7 percent of their GDP to helping Third World countries. This makes me wish I lived in those times...better times, for sure. But...I put some Hope that there are still good people out there, who will be able to clean up such a anti-human mess.
