and the more i go on the more my point gets lost...
but the trouble is that if you want to do that to ethics (translate it into expression of emotion) then you need a normative theory of emotion (what people should feel in response to various acts). and then... you are in danger of invalidating peoples emotions :-( and so... i don't like that. i'd rather say that ethics isn't dependent on emotion. controversial perhaps...
but i personally think that someone can act morally (actually act from morality rather than just acting in accordance with morality) even if they lack the requisite (on emotivist theories) emotional responses.
because otherwise...
what hope is there for peoples with emotional disorders???
