lol. haven't read much of his phil of mind (aside from 'What's it like to be a bat?') but i've been reading a little of his politics. There isn't a pov from nowhere i'll grant you that. but via a process of empathy... and... i guess there can be a view from somewhere we know not where (i have been reading about epistemically possible centred worlds and i don't know a-priori whether this world is twin earth or what..)

Yeah. That surprised me too. I guess that is some indication of the general feeling (especially around NYC I suppose) after 9 11... I was surprised... But there it is.
