I have Irritable Bowel Syndrom since nearly 20 years, with daily symptoms like: gas, borborygms, very frequent stools (4-5 times per day), sometimes diarrhea.
Colonoscopy is Ok. I have see different physicians and tried all is classically used in that case: diet, antispamodics, fibers, loperamide, phytotherapy, argila, carbon, antidepressant, anxiolitics, psychotheray, and all have only a very little effect. Psychological therapy only learns me to live better with these symtoms but does not cure me.
I read on the Wikipedia at page about IBS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irritable_bowel_syndrome
that: "Recent studies have suggested that rifaximin could be used as an effective treatment for abdominal bloating and flatulence,[24] giving more credibility to the potential role of bacterial overgrowth in some patients with IBS."
I would be interested to try rifaximin (other names: redactif; xifaxan) What do you think about it?
How could I get this drug? I live in France and it is not used here. I only have to buy it online but I don't know how. It seems there are very few shops that sell this product and that they don't ship to France. Any suggestion is welcome.
