IBS sucks, dude. Been there. Got the t-shirt.

Could be, I suppose, but your symptoms are virtually text-book IBS. Particularly if: you feel at least temporary relief after moving your bowels.
There is a wonderful med for that, one I had been getting through a compassionate drug company. They just gave my doctor boxes of samples, to pass on to me.
It's called pinaverium bromide, trade named Dicetel. Solvay Pharmaceuticals. Magic.
> Secondly: What should I do about it?
Some people discover trigger foods, that if nothing else, exacerbate the problem. So, you may want to keep a food/symptom diary. Instead of 24-48 hour transit time (normal bowel), your type of IBS can be as little as six hours, end to end. Nutrient absorption falls, and you can be sick from that alone.
I hope you can get some Dicetel. It's a GI-specific calcium channel antagonist. If you can't get that, maybe a differect calcium-channel med known for its GI effects? Maybe Ed could help you work backwards towards such a desirable "side effect"?
