I get this too at times of stress or agitation. It a sign of anxiety for me. I had it checked out by my dentist, my GP told me to lighten up, always a promising Rx. The p-doc says it is anxiety, which I believe because it is improved slightly by my meds Cymbalta, Lamictal, and Vistaril. I had been taking Xanax which worked great though it disengages me from society! Ha ha ha who needs em I say.
So I don't take xanax and the whooshing sounds are back, loud as ever and only recede if the anxiety does.
My blood pressure tests the same whether I've one of the wooshing sounds going in my head/ears, or am relatively tranquil. Same reading for either condition .
