Safety of cortisone injections for cysts

Posted by AMD on January 25, 2006, at 15:47:57

My dermatologist gave me a series of small cortisone injections today to remove a rather large cyst on my cheek and some acne bumps on my forehead.

Now I'm online reading about the numerous dangers of cortisone. Is this something I should be concerned about? Can one series of cortisone shots cause one to get eye disease, diabetes, hair loss, or anything else associated with these steroids?

Frankly I'm very concerned now that I may have put my health in danger. It's been hours -- can I expect the side-effects, if any, to appear soon or has that window passed?

I'm told it will take a couple weeks before the cysts are fully irradicated by the injections. Will there be potential side-effects during this entire period?

Thanks,
amd
