hi Dinah,
are you craving carbs? Or just anything tasty?

I personally believe that many people turn to carbs b/c eating carbs temporarily increases serotonin and gives a "feel good" rush.

If your body balance is off b/c of meds, stress, sleep cycle disruption, it's possible that you're trying to have "good feeling brain" and eating lots of starches and carbs does it, even though it's temporary and even though in the long run, it's making you feel worse.

But even though I believe that's true, I don't necessarily have any good suggestions (as in, "good" because they lead to ME losing weight) on how to counteract it.

I know that when I'm in my thinner periods, it's when I'm exercising daily for 1 hr at the gym, treadmill and elliptical machine, taking the dog for a rigorous walk daily, and actively trying to avoid Doritos and dip and Snickers & stuff. Now I can't claim to be an expert at this, b/c I'm still a size 18/20.

But I do believe that exercise helps tremendously, at least for me. Even getting up and doing a huge rigorous all-day house-cleaning, where I sweat bullets onto the floor, sometimes helps jump-start me into a SLIGHTLY more exercise-filled broccoli-filled and slightly dorito-deficient mode.

good luck.
please let us know how it's going.
